Welcome
What is life all about?
In this world we only get one life and although when young it seems to last forever, aging brings about the reality it does not. It is an obvious thing but we should strive to enjoy our lives, get the most out of it and there are several ways to do this. One option is to focus on self; maybe create a family, gain as much material stuff as you can for you/your family’s pleasure, gather as many friends as you can and do all you can to enjoy life. Another option is to focus on others; treat all as your family, share your material stuff or get rid of it, be a friend to many and with them do all you can to enjoy life - show others how to live a better one.
The first option is how the majority of people lead their lives today, focusing on self/family. The second option has the same aim – to enjoy life but the method is quite different. The first way is ‘How can I make my life happy?’ The second is ‘How can I make the lives of others happy?’ The latter choice does not mean that we sacrifice ourselves to the happiness of others, that would be ridiculous but that we show others how happiness can be achieved.
It is a personal choice but the world would be a much better place if more people were not only happy, content and secure but were prepared to share what they have instead of just using it for one's own pleasure. The best way to make ourselves happy is by making others happy and let what is created become infectious.
Finding Purpose and Direction
True happiness can only be found when we find our true direction in life and our purpose When considering our purpose and direction in life, we need clarity of thought, not hopes. What’s more, we need to see that the path we’ve been on is the path that so many take and it is a forlorn one. The stark reality is that mankind is sorely misguided about its path in life because no one really knows why the human race exists, what is our purpose and direction? read more about finding your purpose and direction ◊ ◊ ◊ How can it be?
How can it be that 1% of the American population own 40% of the wealth in their country? How can it be that in the richest nation on the planet, 15% of the population are forced to live on food stamps so they can eat? How can it be that one half of the world live in relative comfort and the other half live in poverty? How can it be that millions of children and adults go to sleep every night hungry? How can it be that many people can only earn a living by picking over rubbish dumps (children included)? How can it be that young women can be kidnapped and forced into a life of prostitution? How can it be that an ipad or iphone can be seen as more important than another person's life? What should you do?
What do you want from life?

This is a question that we all ask ourselves from time to time and probably the answer is that we want greater happiness but how to get it?
We are all searching for something - whether it be a good loving relationship, a better job, more money, better health, greater peace of mind or greater understanding about life. The truth is we all want to have happy and fulfilling lives and so we search for people, things and situations to make this happen. Often however, our search seems to get us nowhere and we struggle to understand why.
There is no guide book to follow, although there are plenty of self-help and motivation books available, and so we have to find our own way, learning from our mistakes and trying to do things better next time. Life can indeed be hazardous and it is difficult to make sense of it at times; we try to do our best but sometimes our best doesn't seem enough.
However, there are answers to all our questions if we only search and ask the right questions but sometimes we don't get the answer we want because our expectations are wrong. Life is not something which automatically gives to us just because we work hard; it is not that simple. It is more a matter of what we give out, we get back or to put it another way 'reap what we sow.' We all know this and yet we so often fail to fully understand it.
Happiness can only be achieved if we sow it in liberal amounts - we have to give out good in order to get it
back - it's simple. We give out smiles, we get them back; we give hugs we get them back; we give out praise and encouragement, we get it back. We do for others and let others do for us. We live in a family of man; we are not separate from one another but strongly connected because we all have the same feelings. Don't try to be happy by making lots of money or by finding the perfect job or partner, lasting happiness comes from experiencing the good things which come back to us.
We need each other much more than we realise but we just love the idea of being independent and doing things our own way. Here's a little experiment - at this very moment try to make yourself happy - some lovely music might do it or a great book but did you write the music or the book? A walk in the forest might also do it but did you create the forest? We can only be happy because we experience the works of others and the works of nature - alone we are nothing.
You may be wondering why the name of the website is Life Love Dying? This is because it is based on my book Life, Love & Dying - different perspectives, which is about the life we live, the love we find and the death we must face. The book has ten chapters, each one separate and distinct but with a common theme running through. The chapters are love, sex, money, work, health, aging, dying, God and democracy.
